Call of Duty: Warzone (CoD: Warzone) developer Raven Software said it has banned half a million accounts, but many gamers have claimed they were unjustly removed after being hacked.

The developer said it had removed 500,000 accounts overall for cheating since the game launched in March 2020.
Raven Software also announced last week that it had removed tens of thousands of accounts from the game.
In a Twitter post uploaded on Friday, a Raven Software spokesperson said: "Banned over 30,000 malicious accounts across Call of Duty yesterday...bringing us to over half a million accounts banned in #Warzone.
It is the latest in a series of bans carried out by the game's publisher Activision and Raven Software since CoD: Warzone launched last year.
The majority of bans remove accounts that are determined to have cheated or used illegal hacks.

But, shortly after Raven Software made its announcement, Newsweek found dozens of people who said their accounts had also been banned and claimed they had not done anything wrong, or that they were hacked themselves.
One Twitter user replied to Raven Software's announcement and said: "My Activision account has been hacked and they unlinked from my Blizzard and changed email and password.
"I am a streamer/content creator and this is absolutely heartbreaking for me and my community who loves watching me play. Hopefully can get a response back soon."
Another added: "I was banned yesterday and I have never cheated or used boosts of any kind...good job banning normal players."
A third commented: "My account was banned for no reason...15days+ of playing time lost. I did file for the investigation but haven't heard from atvi (Activision Blizzard Inc)."
CoD: Warzone is one of the most popular video games and has steadily built up a player base of millions since it launched on Playstation and Xbox consoles as well as on Microsoft Windows.
According to Statista, the multiplayer battle royale game hit six million players worldwide on the first day it was released.
That figure has since grown to 100 million players, a growth it said was "in no doubt in part due to the coronavirus pandemic" that forced many to stay at home and turn to video games for entertainment.
CoD: Warzone is one of the latest releases in the long-running video games series that has sold more than 400 million copies since its first game released in 2003.
Newsweek has contacted Activision Blizzard for comment.
